With more than 100 resident different tribes there is affluence of local history and complexion to be found in all areas of Tanzania. The entire country communicates via one common language ‘The Swahili language’ though they speak their mother tongue. Cultural tourism is beneficial to everyone, the tourists get unforgettable and unique experiences while the local people generate income that improves their standard of living.

Datoga

Datogas are skilled farmers and craft people, they are Nilotic and live around Lake Eyasi as well in the semi-arid area of Tanzania. Datoga are also warriors and to prove themselves, the young men kill the enemy of the people as a way of proving themselves. The Datoga practice polygamy and marry outside their clans and their society’s decisions are made by a council of the elder who imposes fines and curses.

Datoga will teach you things other than farming and agriculture. They are skilled blacksmiths, and they keep a fire burning behind their houses, which they use to establish objects such as knife blades, arrow tips, and various ornaments. You will have the opportunity to learn about their way of life, which will enhance your journey.

Hadzabe

The Hadzabe are hunter-gatherer people living in northern Tanzania. The Hadzabe remains an important study focus for anthropologists, as they represent a modern link to ways of human existence and survival largely abandoned by most of humanity, they are highly dependent on each other for survival. The Hadzabe have no domesticated livestock, nor do they grow or store their food.

Interaction with the Hadzabe tribe is one of the most interesting life experience you can have while on safari in Tanzania. They are the last of the hunter-gatherer tribes, and going on a hunt with them transfers you to some other era. You will also be able to go on a short walk with the women and observe how the households function.
