Wildebeest Migration Crossing

Tour overview

This tour offers golden chances to witness the great migration river crossing that normally begins from July to late October. Since the main determinant of the wildebeest migration is the rainfall, sometimes the crossing may prolong to early November.

The great migration usually begins to move north in early July ready for the gestation period, they pass through the Wagakuria area en route toMasai Mara Game Reserve. In September the herds are likely to be found well scattered and spread all over the northern Serengeti in Tanzania and Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya.

Depending on the rainfall as the main determinant of the wildebeest migration, some of the herds might decide tocross the river and start the journey to the south while others may opt to remain in the northern part of Serengeti. Probably from Late October to early November the herds of Migration begin the journey back to the Southern Plains of Serengeti ready for the Calving season in February.
