This 8 days Wildlife and Culture Safari program is the perfect road map not to miss. The program will give you the chance to visit the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes around Lake Eyasi and learn their cultural ways of life.Finally, the program will take you to Mto wa Mbu village for exceptional cultural excursions.

Full Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

ShiloSafari guide will meet you at Kilimanjaro International airportfor greetings and other welcoming procedures, followed by a drive to a reputable accommodation in Arusha city for dinner and overnight. You will have a lot to explore on the way to Arusha town “The city of tourists” and get hints about your Safari program that will take off in the next few hours to come.

Day 2: Arusha to Lake Eyasi

Your perfect Safari program starts with a palatable breakfast followed by a drive to Lake Eyasi, you will cross through stunning Maasai lands and villages on the way before arriving at a Lodge for hot lunch, get your eyes ready to witness the beauty of Tanzania on the way. After arriving at a Lodge enjoy your meals and get enough time to relax until tomorrow when you will have an early morning cultural experience of hunting with the Hadzabe tribe “the Bush men”.

Day 3: Lake Eyasi Cultural Activities

If you’ve been looking for an adventure, today is the day!
Early in the morning depart for hunting with the hadzabe in the bush, this is a real adventure and the best cultural experience to explore. The hadzabe are the last real hunter-gatherers, they live almost the same way as their ancestors in the Stone Age. They use bows and arrows to hunt animals and they will teach you how to use them during hunting.

Apart from hunting, the Hadzabe perform other activities in the bush such as collecting fruits, roots, and honey for their daily meals and you will get a chance to hunt, track wildlife, make fire and even take honey from bee’s nests with the Hadzabe people. After a few hours of adventure, you will stop for lunch in the bush before proceed with other excursions. When an animal is spotted the hunting can take place immediately due to the high experience they have. They normally hunt animals including antelopes, gazelles, as well as birds.

After an awesome experience from the bush, you will visit their neighbor tribe the Datoga for another cultural experience. The Datoga are pastoralists and they usually collect metal scrap and process it into bracelets, arrowheads, and knives. You will see how women traditionally grind flour from corn as well as celebrate their local dances.
After all the excursions you will drive to a Lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight

Day 4: Karatu to Serengeti National Park

Let us return to the bush and explore the scenery of the mighty Serengeti.
Enjoy an early breakfast and set off for Serengeti National Park a wildlife reserve through karatu. Serengeti is among the stunning places on the planet with such a variety of wildlife. Get the most breath-taking scenery and spot many animals over the impressive endless plains. Your Shilo professional guide will be willing to share with you the beauty of this reputable destination including its flora and fauna.

The park host large concentrations of animals henceyou can expect big games from predators. Serengeti has the most scenic designated picnic areas where you will enjoy your Lunch when you arrive before proceeding with the game drive. After lunch get ready again for your afternoon game drive around Seronera area where you may spot animals such as lion, leopard, elephant, zebra, cheetah, and antelope. Take some memorable photos and enjoy the nature of this world wonder. After the game drive, the guide will drive to a lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park

Spending a night in Serengeti National park will add more value to your safari program. Theattractivesounds of wild animals and birds will make your night so great. After breakfast, you begin the day with the morning game drive in the Central area of Serengeti known as Seronera. Explorethe beautiful scenery of endless plains and enjoy the fascinating stories about wildlife from your Shilo professional safari guide.

Seronera River provides water for many animal species in the central part of Serengeti. Lions prefer to stay and hide in Kopjes as well as snakes and hyraxes. Your picnic Lunch in Serengeti’s endless plains will be an unforgettable experience. After lunch takes a short break and then proceeds to search for wildlife around the seronera area. You may find Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Zebra, Cheetah, and Antelope at any time during the game drives. If you are lucky you may spot the magnificent sight of the world’s heaviest bird capable of flying, the Kori Bustard.

After the game drive, your guide will take you back to a lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Serengeti to Olduvai Gorge

Today’s program starts with a delicious breakfast followed by morning game drives around the seronera area, then depart for Olduvai Gorge in the Ngorongoro Conservation area for a cultural exploration tour. In Olduvai Gorge, you will get a well-detailed history dating back to the dawn of time. You will take a lunch break in the mid-afternoon before continuing on to the cultural excursion aboutanthropologist Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey who discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’ that are very significant in the chain of human evolution.

After all the excursions your guide will drive to a Lodge in Karatufor Dinner and overnight

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater

Have you ever heard of the Big Five’s home?

Today is an excellent day to visit the home of the Big Five.After an early breakfast, you will descend over 600 meters into the crater “home of the big five” for a full-day game drive. Supported by a year-round water supply and nourishment, the Ngorongoro crater supports the existence of many animal species including lions, zebras, elephants, and giraffes just to mention a few as well as bird life.

You will also visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake situated in southwestern one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos, and other water birds can usually be spotted. The crater has a nice picnic area where you can enjoy your lunch and take a short break before continuing on with the afternoon game drive. In the evening after the game drive, your guide will drive to a lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Mto wa Mbu cultural Excursions

Today is another exciting day! Enjoy your breakfast in the morning followed by a drive to Mto wa Mbu village. When arriving at the village the Local guides will pick you ready for a village walking tour for about 2 to 3 hours, your guide is very likely to be familiar with many excursions in the village hence you will have a very special opportunity to see the entire village through his eyes. You will learn the culture of the local people residing in an area, and a visit to rice plantations where you will get insights into how they grow and process. Lunch will be served at a restaurant in MtowaMbu, followed by an afternoon game drive in Lake Manyara National Park.

After all the excursions you will meet your Shilo guide and drive to Lake Manyara national park for a late afternoon game drive. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, flamingos, breath-taking scenery, the population of a baboon, and the soda ash lake in the Centre. After all the activities your driver will pick you up at a lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Arusha town (Departure Day)

Congratulation! What a fantastic blend of experiences! that wasAfter the best celebrations and great memories, today is the time to say goodbye to the entire team. Enjoy your palatable breakfast, followed by a drive to Arusha town. When arriving in Arusha town enjoy the hot lunch and nice view of Arusha followed by little relaxation. Depending on your departure flight you will be escorted to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home.
