Day 1: Arrival Day at Julius Nyerere International Airport
Day 2: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park
What a good day! Today is a pretty day as you are going to explore southern Tanzania, one of the reputable destinations with unspoiled wildlife. The program starts with a delicious breakfast from the hotel, followed by a drive to Mikumi with packed lunch boxes. Enjoy en route attraction on the way to the park and probably you will arrive in the afternoon. Mikumi has well-designated picnic areas to celebrate your lunch ready after arriving before proceeding with the game drive.
Mikumi is among the largest park in Tanzania and has a wide range of wildlife. The park is situated between the Uluguru Mountains and Lumango range. The closeness of the park to Dar es Salaam makes it the best point to start your Southern Tanzania safari which will leave you with a remarkable tour experience. Mikumi National park offers great chances to spot the big five animals including Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino. Following the game drive, your guide will transfer you to a lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Mikumi to Ruaha National Park
What a brilliant morning!After a mouth-watering breakfast,we take off to start a drive to Ruaha National Park withyour packed lunch boxes. The Park covers an area of about 20,226 square km and is the second largest National park in Tanzania after Nyerere National park. The park got its name from the great Ruaha River which flows towards the south-eastern part of the park. About 4 to 5 hours journey will lead you to Ruaha and besides the journey being venturous you will get the chance to see many animals and get the chance to take awesome photos to save in your memory.
Enjoy your picnic lunch in the afternoon before continuing with the rest of the day’s activities.The park harbors remarkable numbers of animals and bird species. If time allows you can enjoy an afternoon game drive followed by dinner & Overnight at a lodge in Ruaha.
Day 4 & 5: Ruaha National Park
Great memories are the result of sound decisions! Spend two days on a game drive in Ruaha National Park, exploring nature, wildlife, birds, and the best experiences. Ruaha is the second largest national park in Tanzania, it might need two full days to enjoy and have blast full of memories about the park. More than 571 species of birds have been identified in the park, among the resident species are hornbills, also many migratory birds visit the park.
It is particularly good for spotting predators, including the lion pride and the endangered wild dog. Elephants and a variety of antelope species are other big draws to the mighty Ruaha as well as outstanding wilderness appeal, with limited exclusive luxury camps. Several antelope species that are rare in Tanzania’s northern circuit such as greater, lesser kudu, roan, and stable antelope, are often encountered. In the afternoon you will enjoy your picnic lunch, followed by a short break before continuing with the afternoon game drive.
During the game drive, you will be able to stop for a successful snap taking of the best spotting of resident animals which are more often glimpsed and unable to hide in the sun-witheredbush during the dry season as the heat is less severe and a lot of dust is kicked up around the pack. Safaris can get uneasily steamy in the wet months, and some roads may be unreachable at this time.Following the game drive, your guide will transfer you to a lodge in Ruaha for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Ruaha to Nyerere National Park
What a lovely day! After an early breakfast drive toNyerere national park, but due to the distance factora good option would be to fly between these two areas. We will transfer to the airstrip and flytoNyerere national park, where your professionalShiloSafari guides will meetyou upon arrival and take you to the lodge/camp to enjoy exquisite lunch. After lunch in the afternoon, you willhave the time of one’s life by riding a boat on the Rufiji River. This is an out-of-the-common experience and great variance from the old days of game drives.
There are two types of boat riding in the park, the sunset or dawn short safari trips along the Rufiji River outside the reserve and the full day boat safari which is a more in-depth exploration and you can see the elephants bathing or crossing the river. Enjoy a sundowner while watching the herds of wildlife coming down to the river to drink. A birders paradise and very rich in fish eagles, herons, Egyptian geese, storks, bee-eaters, and kingfishers.
Following the game drive, your guide will transfer you to a lodge in Nyerere for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 & 8: Nyerere National Park
Fill your two full days at Nyerere National Park with incredible game drives and activities.Your two days at Nyerere will not be considered complete unless you engage in one of the guided walking tours. You will get an opportunity to enjoy an up-close encounter with Mother Nature as you appreciate the enchanted and calmness of this remote but beautiful reserve.Given the possibility to explore and review different areas of the vast park and have good photographic opportunities. In the afternoon you will enjoy your picnic lunch, followed by a short break before continuing with the afternoon game drive.
Apart from the area being famous for its large herds of elephants, hippos, and rhinos, the area is also rich with sable antelopes, eland, greater kudus, waterbucks, spotted hyenas, lions, leopards, and a bird list of more than 400 species. Holidaymakers interested in bird watching will surely not be disappointed while inNyerere National Park. Following the game drive, your guide will transfer you to a lodge for dinner and overnight.
